Berlin to Athens in 3 Days
Embarking on a spontaneous road trip is always an adventure, but for us, it became a journey filled with unexpected twists and turns from Berlin to Athens. Our mission: to bring back a pre-owned car from Germany to Greece. Little did we know that this impromptu decision would lead to a whirlwind road trip spanning across Europe.
Day 1: Berlin, Germany
Arriving in Berlin at 11 o’clock in the morning, our excitement was palpable. Swiftly navigating the public transport system, we headed straight to the car dealership to collect our newly acquired vehicle. Armed with the necessary documents, our journey began.
The Road to Vienna
With Vienna, Austria as our goal for the night, a 659 km drive awaited us. Sharing the driving responsibilities, we navigated through foggy roads, passing by the enchanting cities of Dresden and Prague, although time did not permit us to explore them.
Arriving at the Courtyard by Marriott Vienna Prater/Messe added a touch of luxury to our adventure. Nestled in the heart of Vienna, this hotel not only offered a comfortable retreat but also provided easy access to the city’s vibrant atmosphere. Our evening became magical as we took a nighttime stroll through the illuminated city and the cherry on top was savoring a delectable burger at the Addicted to Rock restaurant.
Day 2: Vienna, Austria
Captivated by Vienna’s charm, we decided to return during the next Christmas. As the city started adorning itself with Christmas lights in November, our day was spent exploring its beauty before hitting the road once again.
Budapest and the Unexpected Hurdle
The next stop was Budapest, Hungary, only 250 km away. Unfortunately, our tight schedule allowed for only a quick meal at a Google-discovered restaurant named Mazel Tov, an Israeli delight. Little did we anticipate the traffic jam at the Serbian border, turning our planned stay in Novi Sad into an unexpected challenge.
An Unforgettable Night
Trapped in a sea of cars, we experienced a 5-hour delay stuck in our vehicle. Finally reaching our Novi Sad hotel at 3 o’clock in the morning became an experience etched in our memories forever.
Homeward Bound
The following day, despite exhaustion, we fueled up on breakfast and resumed our journey towards Athens.
Facing a daunting 1200 km drive, we embraced the unpredictability of our adventure. Pit stops to replenish both the car and our spirits kept us going. Navigating through changing landscapes and unpredictable weather, we finally arrived back in Athens, our home, having covered an impressive 2400 km in just three days.
As daring travel companions on this epic odyssey, our impulsive decision to bring a car from Germany turned into an unforgettable road trip across Europe. From Berlin to Athens, our journey was filled with challenges, surprises and countless memories – a testament to the spontaneity that defines our travel adventures.
Pack your bags, fuel your wanderlust, and let the road lead you to new horizons. Adventure awaits – are you ready to seize it?
See you soon !
